I was really happy when Ron Wyatt offered (at no additional charge), pre-trip lessons. He provided me tips on back button focus, shooting in aperture and shutter priority mode. Ron wanted everyone to be able to take good pictures during the trip, so he met with me a few times to ensure my comfort with the camera.
